Nick Farr// Ski guide, trekking guide, climbing guide. I'm Australian but Aspen Colorado and Kathmandu Nepal are my homes away from home. Check out our great adventures at www.trekclimbski.com.au
It's Australia Day in Aspen and there sure are lots more Aussies in town than when we started skiing here in 1991! Cassie De Colling has been at it again and has produced this little offering celebrating our Ski Aspen Tours on Australia Day.
It's been a fantastic last few days in Aspen and we celebrated long into the night at BB's Kitchen on Saturday as we said farewell to Trek Climb Ski Aspen Tour 1. A big congratulations to Mac Hay and Sam Van Kuyk who won our most improved skiers and took home the trophies and Bolle goggles. With almost a foot of fresh snow falling on Friday it didn't look promising for departure day but the weather did clear and flights into and out of Aspen airport operated to schedule on Sunday. All our Tour 2 guests are ready to go and we start skiing in around 2 hours. A pic below of Tour 1 on their final day and our trophy winners Mac and Sam.
It's puking snow right now in Aspen with big falls predicted for the next 48 hours. We've had some great skiing the last few days not to mention some great lunches! Some images below ...
The season is back on track and the Ski Aspen crew are stoked! With nearly 20 inches of fresh in the past 24 hours and more to come, great snow conditions are back in town. If you don't believe us, take a look at our latest offering filmed on January 18, 2012.
Another perfect day in Aspen as Roy introduces Tour 1 guests to his renowned 'on-mountain' Schnapps Bar. Cassie films, Fatty crashes (again) and we toast with schnapps to another great Ski Aspen day.
Trek Climb Ski Aspen Tour 1, 2012 is well underway and film-maker extraordinaire Cassie De Colling has been flat out in the editing suite. The result ... this little gem showcasing our guides and guests on a blue sky day at Aspen Highlands.
Trek Climb Ski Aspen Tour 1: Day 1 ... and right on cue the snow is dumping in Aspen. With lower than average snowfalls recorded across the USA this season, a group of dedicated hard-core Aspen locals last night performed their ritual snowdance ... naked we're told. We sincerely thank these professional snow dancers for their efforts as the snow started falling early this morning and 10 hours later - well - it's still pumping! And the forecast says it won't be letting up any time soon. Sure it's causing havoc with the flights but we'd prefer the fresh powder anyday! And while all of you at home are sweltering away in that hot Aussie sun, why not spend 40 seconds watching our first Aspen 2012 video ... BETTER STILL ... if those scorching summer days aren't doing it for you, we still have 2 vacancies remaining on Ski Aspen Tour 3 (Feb 6 - Feb 21, 2012).
This will be of interest to all our Ski Aspen guests preparing to fly with United Airlines. We have just received notification that United Airlines have revoked the '2 bags for skiers' allowance that has always been the deal. We are advised that the current baggage allowance with United Airlines is one bag of 23kgs in weight. Hardly enough to take care of all your ski gear let alone skis!! The surcharge for a ski bag is likely to be in the vicinity of around $75.00 so please be prepared for this when you check in if flying the friendly skies with United Airlines. THANKS UNITED!!!!
